The National Lotteries Commission (NLC) has learned with great shock, disbelief and sadness of the sudden passing of His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini ka Bhekuzulu.
As the custodian of Zulu traditions and customs he played a critical role in the development of a wide variety of projects in communities that the NLC funded.
His Majesty played a leading role in the fight against the HIV/Aids pandemic by urging his subjects to take on circumcision as one of the preventive measures.
His sudden death has indeed caught all of us who worked closely with him by surprise and has sent shockwaves in the NLC family and the nation at large.
South Africa owes him a debt of gratitude for the selfless service to his people and for the passion he demonstrated for community development and unity of this nation.
As the nation is engulfed in this deep sense of sorrow and grief, we at the National Lotteries Commission would like extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to yourselves at the Royal house for such a loss.
Isizwe sikaZulu neNingizimu Afrika yonke igqemeke engenqiwa ntwala ngokukhothama kweSilo.Siyakhalisana nomndeni kaBayede sengathi ungalala ngenxeba. Lala kahle Sithuli sikaNdaba!
